Yaguar Ura : spirit of wisdom
Born on the banks of the Marañón River, in ancestral Kukama territory, Yaguar Ura —“Jaguar of the River” in the language of the forest— is a healer trained since childhood by the wise elders of his community. His lineage is a guardian of the living medicine of the jungle: ayahuasca, master plants, sacred tobacco, and songs that open portals of vision and transformation.
Yaguar Ura didn’t train in modern schools. His learning came from the land, the river, the starry night, and the silence of the forest. For years, he lived in isolation, dieting master plants such as Chiric Sanango, Piñon Colorado, Ajo Sacha, Bobinsana, and other sacred allies of the soul.
His medicine is not only what he offers in ceremony—it is the energy that emanates from his presence: steady, silent, and deep. When he sings, his voice calls forth the jaguar, the river, the thunder. His drum awakens memory, and his maraca clears the energetic weight that the soul has carried for lifetimes. Yaguar Ura walks with humility, reverence, and an authentic connection to the spirits of the forest.
From the age of 10, I learned my knowledge in Curanderismo and I dedicate more than 30 years of my work to people who are seeking spiritual, energetic, psychological or physical healing.
I learned my knowledge in Curanderismo from my grandfather and teacher , inheriting his knowledge and tradition. With Ayahuasca ceremonies and the use of natural medicine, using medicinal plants properly harvested in my personal botanical garden, I am a naturist doctor who masters this science and knows the secrets of the mysterious jungle. Since the beginning of my journey, I have respected very strictly my diets and my ethics as a healer, and with many sacrifices I have been able to make a direct connection with the Mother Spirit of different plants; my spiritual doctors. My code of ethics towards my participants and in my life is very disciplined; the rules are very delicate and very straight. My work as Curandero can be summarized in 3 points: 1.- Respect for the participant. 2.- Respect to God, to Mother Ayahuasca and to Mother Nature. 3.- Respect to the dietas.
Nowadays, I’m fulfilling a very important role: to transmit my experience and knowledge of traditional natural medicine that I have learnt. I also dedicate myself to heal people who come with different types of illnesses: alcoholism, drug addiction, psychological traumas, cancer among others, etc. with much humbleness, devotion and dedication. Because all my efforts and strict diets I am able to act as a guide for people to find health in the spiritual world. My role in healing is to be an intermediary of a Divine healing: God, Mother Ayahuasca/Nature and my Spiritual Doctors are the healers that are expressed through my humble work.
The focus and intention of my work is HEALING and the integration of the participant with the spiritual world. My work is not focused only to produce visions but to help the participant to find health, peace and harmony in her/his life. In the Usurpaki Healing DAS center I work in this context to help each participant to achieve what they need.
In his ceremonies, the number of participants is intentionally kept small, rarely exceeding 12 people. This allows for a deeply personal experience, where El Jaguar de la Selva, along with a facilitator and/or one of his trusted students, ensures that each individual is cared for and supported throughout the journey. This intimate setting enables him to closely monitor and guide each person’s healing process from the moment they arrive until their departure.
In addition to the three ceremonies held each week, healing is further supported through dietas (sacred plant diets) and other therapeutic work tailored to each individual’s needs.
We are governed by the highest ethical standards , placing a strong emphasis on personal integrity at every level. They work diligently to create a peaceful and safe environment, allowing the healing process to be more profound and lasting.

Ayahuasca: A Sacred Healing Plant
Ayahuasca is a revered medicinal brew used for centuries by indigenous cultures in the Amazon. Made from the combination of the Banisteriopsis caapi vine and the Psychotria viridis leaf, Ayahuasca is known for its powerful healing properties on the mind, body, and spirit. The brew facilitates deep introspection, allowing individuals to confront emotional and psychological wounds, release past trauma, and reconnect with their higher selves. As a teacher plant, Ayahuasca offers profound insights and transformative healing, opening pathways to clarity, spiritual growth, and emotional release. In our ceremonies, you will experience the power of Ayahuasca in a safe and supportive environment, guided by skilled curanderos who help facilitate the journey of healing.
Below you will find a list of additional plants that you may work with throughout your time at the sanctuary.
The Medicine
The Brewing Process
The Ayahuasca brew is created by carefully combining two sacred plants: the Banisteriopsis caapi vine and Psychotria viridis leaves. These plants are sustainably harvested from the Amazon jungle, ensuring both respect for nature and the healing power of the medicine. The plants are slow-cooked together in a pot, with prayers and intentions said over the brew to infuse it with healing energy. This sacred ritual ensures that the medicine holds the wisdom of the jungle, ready to support your personal healing journey.
The Process
These are some of the powerful Medicines that Master Yaguar Ura works with, and they may be integrated into your healing journey at the sanctuary.
What is Kambo?
Kambo is an ancient medicine used by various indigenous tribes of the Amazon region, especially in Brazil, Peru, and Colombia. It is obtained from the secretions of the Phyllomedusa bicolor, a green frog that lives in the rainforest. This secretion is not psychoactive, but it has powerful medicinal properties.
Kambo is known for its deeply purgative and detoxifying effects. The ritual usually involves making small superficial burns on the skin, where the secretion is applied. This allows the bioactive peptides to quickly enter the body, causing an intense physical reaction that may include:
- Nausea and vomiting: to expel toxins from the body.
- Sweating and an accelerated heart rate: due to a strong physiological response.
- Emotional release: many people also experience emotional cleansing during the session.
From a medicinal perspective, Kambo is said to:
- Strengthen the immune system.
- Relieve chronic pain.
- Help treat infections, fever, and depression.
- Improve mental clarity and energy.
Spiritually, many people use Kambo to "cleanse the body" before plant medicine ceremonies such as Ayahuasca, strengthening the spirit and removing energetic blockages.
It’s important to note that Kambo should be administered by someone with experience, such as a healer or trained facilitator, since the physical reaction can be intense and must be handled with care.
Are you thinking about exploring Kambo as part of your healing journey, perhaps in connection with the practices at Healing DAS?
At the Kukama Usurpaki Healing Center DAS , Kambo can be seen as a powerful first step toward deep healing. This medicine works on a physical level, releasing accumulated toxins, and on an energetic level, clearing blockages that can prevent a full connection with the master plants.
The integration of Kambo into the practices guided by the healer Jaguar Ura follows a conscious and ceremonial process, where:
Preparation: Before the ritual, participants are invited to enter a state of introspection, often through silence, meditation, and a light diet, aligning themselves with the teachings of the plants.
The Call of the Jaguar: During the ceremony, the Jaguar of the Jungle is invoked through icaros and the rhythm of the drum, guiding participants to courageously face the physical and emotional sensations that arise.
Purge as Liberation: The intense physical reaction of Kambo is seen not only as a detoxification, but as an act of spiritual liberation. It is the body releasing what no longer serves, while the spirit is strengthened.
Integration: After the ritual, rest, hydration, and sharing in a circle are encouraged. The Jaguar de la Selva healer offers words of guidance, helping participants understand emerging visions and emotions.
This preparation with Kambo strengthens the body, sharpens the mind, and opens the heart, creating the appropriate space for Ayahuasca ceremonies.
KAMBO: The Warrior’s Medicine at Usurpaki Healing DAS
At Usurpaki Healing DAS, Kambo is more than just a detoxification medicine; it is a powerful ally on the path of healing, deeply connected to the teachings of the Shaman Yaguar Ura. This ancient medicine, respectfully extracted from the Phyllomedusa bicolor, the green Amazonian frog, works on a profound level, releasing physical toxins and dissolving energetic blockages that hinder the flow of the spirit.
Kambo is a powerful healing ritual that uses the secretion of the Phyllomedusa bicolor frog, also known as the giant monkey frog, native to the Amazon rainforest. This ancient medicine has been used for centuries by indigenous tribes for its potent cleansing and healing properties.
During a Kambo ceremony, small amounts of the frog's secretion are applied to the skin in a series of small burns. The medicine enters the body and works quickly to purify and detoxify, clearing physical and energetic blockages. Kambo is known to strengthen the immune system, increase energy, and support emotional healing. Many people report feeling revitalized and clear-headed after their experience.
In addition to its physical benefits, Kambo is also used for spiritual purification, helping to release negative emotions and trauma. The intense yet brief experience can be transformative, providing participants with clarity, strength, and a sense of deep renewal.
At Usurpaki Healing DAS, Kambo is offered as part of the holistic healing journey, supporting your emotional, mental, and physical well-being in a safe and guided environment.
The Kambo Ritual: A Call to Inner Strength
The process begins with conscious preparation. Participants are guided into a state of introspection, following a light diet and practicing silence and meditation. This preparatory phase opens the body and mind, aligning them with the vibration of the master plants.
During the ritual, the Master Yaguar Ura invokes the forces of nature through ícaros, the rhythm of the drum, and the penetrating sound of the maraca. The Jaguar, a symbol of courage and clear vision, accompanies each person as the Kambo enters their body, triggering an intense physical response:
-The purge: a release of toxins and repressed emotions.
-Heat and accelerated heartbeat: signs that the body is awakening and energy is beginning to move.
-The silence afterward: a moment of deep internal connection, when the spirit calms after the storm.
Integration and Preparation for the Master Plants
Kambo lays the foundation for ceremonies with sacred plants such as Ayahuasca. By cleansing the physical body, sharpening the mind, and opening the heart, participants become more receptive to spiritual teachings.
After the Kambo ceremony, the integration process is essential. The Shaman Yaguar Ura offers words of guidance, helping to interpret the visions and emotions that emerge. Rest, hydration, and group sharing are encouraged, creating a bridge between the purified body and the upcoming master plant ceremonies.
A Complete Healing Journey
At Usurpaki Healing DAS, each step is carefully woven into the spiritual journey. Kambo is not an isolated act but a call to inner strength, a preparation for deeper exploration into the realm of master plants, and an opportunity to walk alongside the Jaguar of the Jungle—with courage and an open heart.
Do you feel the call of Kambo and the whisper of the Jaguar? Your healing journey awaits you here.

RAPÉH: Breath of the Jungle, Ancestral Medicine of the Amazon
In the heart of the Amazon, where the song of the jungle resonates with the wisdom of the ancestors, rapéh is born, a sacred medicine passed down by the great healers. Made from ancient and ancestral plants, its essence comes from Grandfather Tobacco, guardian spirit of the earth and water, whose roots are intertwined with the knowledge of the master plants.
More than a powder, rapéh is an offering, a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. Breathing it activates the pineal gland, clears the mind, and aligns the spirit with the energy of the jungle, guiding one toward clarity and deep healing. Its components—roots, seeds, stems, and flowers—guard the living memory of nature, vibrating with the power of each plant spirit.
In Usurpaki Healing DAS, the application of rapéh is a ceremonial act, a moment of surrender and connection. The applicator, with presence and respect, becomes a channel of energy, holding the space for the medicine to open inner pathways. It is not just the rapé, but the intention that accompanies it that awakens the healing process. Through its power, fears are released, anxieties are dissipated, and deep wounds of the soul are healed.
Each breath is a call to the Jaguar of the Jungle, a silent roar that awakens the spirit and reminds one of the path back to the center of one's being.
SNUFF RECOMMENDATION.
To avoid any feeling of suffocation or discomfort during the application of the rapé, the recipient should follow these recommendations:
1- Posture and Breathing
Maintain a relaxed and aligned posture, with your back straight and your head tilted slightly forward.
Breathe through your mouth before and after application, avoiding inhaling through your nose when blowing so that the powder does not abruptly descend into the throat.
2- During Application
Blow with acceptance and without tension. If there is resistance, the body may react with a cough or discomfort in the throat.
Avoid swallowing saliva immediately, as this may pull some of the rapé back into the throat and cause discomfort.
3- After Application
Exhale gently through your mouth if you feel a strong sensation in your nose.
Do not inhale forcefully through your nose, but allow the rapé to act naturally.
If necessary, lean forward slightly to allow any excess powder to drain naturally.
4- In Case of Discomfort
If the powder settles in your throat and causes a cough, you can take a small sip of water to relieve the sensation.
If you experience a feeling of blockage, it is helpful to take deep, calm breaths until the effect stabilizes.
Following these recommendations will make your rapé experience smoother and more beneficial.
